Haguruka-NGO, in partnership with RCN J&D, is implementing a project entitled “JUSTICE et MEMOIRE “. This project will be implemented over the course of five years (2017-2021) and is funded by the Belgian Directorate General for Development (DGD).
The project aims to help communities affected by specific cases related to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi to understand and participate in Genocide trials abroad. It aims to integrate these trials into the memory of the Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi.
It’s against this background that Haguruka, in partnership with RNC J&D, organized a workshop on sensitization to communities affected by these specific cases related to Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi. This workshop took place on 29th March, 2018 at Five to Five Hotel in Kigali. The invited participants included Human Rights Civil Society Organizations.
The objective of this workshop was to equip the members of Human Rights Civil Society Organizations to inform the people of former Commune Kabarondo about the progress of lawsuit of Octavien NGENZI and TITO Barahira, whose appeal hearings are expected on 2nd May to 6th July 2018
Haguruka’s National Executive Secretary gave the opening remarks for this workshop. The speakers included Mr Hugo JOMBWE, Chief of Mission (RCN J&D), and Mr Juvens NTAMPUHWE, the coordinator of this specific project.
Informing the community will take place concurrently with the trials mentioned above.
