Refresher workshop for CSOs on how to senstize communities affected by cases linked with the Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in 1994.

Haguruka-NGO in partnership with RCN J&D are implementing a project entitled “JUSTICE et MEMOIRE “. This project will be implemented over a course of five years (2017-2021) funded by the Kingdom of Belgium in its Directorate General for Development (DGD).

The project aims at facilitating the community affected by specific cases related to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, to understand and participate in the Genocide trials on the basis of universal jurisdiction and to help the integration of the contributions of these trials in the memory of justice of the Genocide perpetrated against Tutsi.

It’s against this background that Haguruka in partnership with RNC J&D organized a preparative workshop on sensitization to community affected by specific cases related to Genocide perpetrated against Tutsi that took place on 29th March, 2018 at Five to Five Hotel in Kigali. The invited participants included the Human Rights Civil Society Organizations.

The objective of this workshop was to prepare the members of Human right civil society organizations to sensitize of the people of former Commune Kabarondo on the progress of lawsuit of Octavien NGENZI and TITO Barahira whose appeal hearings are expected on 2nd May to 6th July 2018

Haguruka’s National Executive Secretary gave the opening remarks for this workshop. The speakers included Mr Hugo JOMBWE Chief of mission (RCN J&D), and Mr Juvens NTAMPUHWE the coordinator of this specific project.
Activity of sensitizing the community and the trails of the above mentioned lawsuits will take place concurrently.
