FROM NEW YORK TO KIGALI: TURNING GLOBAL COMMITMENTS INTO NATIONAL ACTION

On 29 June 2026, HAGURUKA, in partnership with the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF), the Health Development Initiative (HDI), and UN Women Rwanda, convened the National Dissemination and Action Planning Workshop on the CSW70 Agreed Conclusions. The workshop brought together government officials, civil society organisations, women’s rights advocates, and development partners to translate international commitments into concrete national action.

HAGURUKA and its partners reflected on Rwanda’s engagement at CSW70, sharing key lessons and identifying opportunities for stronger participation in future sessions. These reflections provided a practical foundation for the planning that followed.

Planning for action

Participants identified priority actions to integrate the CSW70 Agreed Conclusions into Rwanda’s national policies and programmes, with discussions focusing on women’s economic empowerment, gender-responsive social protection, and the elimination of gender-based violence.

Strengthening partnerships

The workshop strengthened collaboration across government, civil society, and development partners, with a shared commitment to earlier and more coordinated preparation for future CSW sessions.

The National Dissemination and Action Planning Workshop on the CSW70 Agreed Conclusions was a vital step towards translating international commitments on gender equality into concrete national action.
