With the support of USAID Rwanda and partnership of Legal Aid Forum (LAF), Haguruka launched a 5 years’ access to justice program namely “Dufatanye Kubaka Ubutabera (DKU).
The major goal of the DKU activity is improving citizens’ knowledge of rights and expanding their access to quality legal services across Rwanda.
Among officials who graced the event included US Ambassador to Rwanda, Amb. Deb Maclean, Mr Jonathan Kamin the Country Director of USAID Rwanda and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.
The activity envisions a broad geographic reach as it targets districts in different parts of the country. Among activities to be implemented nationwide, include Legal Aid Weeks, legal aid coordination, and increasing opportunities for individuals to access legal services through simple mobile phone technology. Mobile Legal Clinics as one of the major activities we will carry out throughout the course of the activity, will specifically target Nyagatare, Gicumbi, Rwamagana, Rusizi and Nyarugenge
